NOTICE REGARDING TV BLACKOUTS FOR MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
The 2009 MLB season is underway, but fans of several Midwest-area baseball teams may find themselves frustrated when tuning in to their favorite game.
Major League Baseball rules require mandatory blackouts of games on ESPN, ESPN2, TBS, and other networks for certain teams. For Iowa, the blackout rules apply to the following teams: Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and St. Louis Cardinals. The number of games that will be blacked-out is similar to last year.
Listings on TV Guide Interactive (Digital Cable onscreen guide) and TV Guide Channel (Ch. 99) may sometimes show that a specific game will be on, but ends up being blacked out. If you tune in to a game and find that its not on, it is likely because of the blackout.
When a game is blacked out, the network may provide alternate programming. At other times, you may see a blank screen.
SMU HAS NO CONTROL OVER THESE BLACKOUTS! They are controlled by Major League Baseball and the networks that carry the games. We apologize for any inconvenience these blackouts might cause. |
